New BC Employment Standards Complaint Guide Follows Coast Capital Auto Finance Violations
Former Coast Capital employee Sean Manak publishes a guide explaining how to file an Employment Standards complaint in British Columbia following a government determination against Coast Capital Auto & Equipment Finance Ltd., part of the Coast Capital Savings Federal Credit Union group.
Surrey, British Columbia, November 4, 2026: A new online guide, How to File an Employment Standards Complaint in British Columbia, provides practical information for employees seeking to recover unpaid wages, challenge overtime violations and understand their rights under provincial employment legislation.
Published on CoastCapitalLawsuit.com by former Coast Capital Auto & Equipment Finance Ltd. employee Sean Manak, the guide follows a September 18, 2026 determination by British Columbia’s Director of Employment Standards involving his former employer.
In Determination ES-2024-004516, the Director found that Coast Capital Auto & Equipment Finance Ltd., part of the Coast Capital Savings Federal Credit Union group, contravened four provisions of British Columbia’s Employment Standards Act: sections 17, 18, 28 and 40, concerning wage payments, final wages, employment records and overtime.
The company was ordered to pay $6,559.38 in wages and interest, together with $2,000 in administrative penalties, for a total of $8,559.38. The determination also found that an averaging agreement relied upon during the employment relationship was invalid because its stated expiry date preceded the date it was signed.
“Employees should understand their rights and know how to protect themselves when disputes arise over unpaid wages, overtime or working hours,” said Manak. “This guide explains how to document their concerns, navigate the complaint process and access the official government resources available to them.”
The guide addresses filing deadlines, required documentation, unpaid overtime, employer recordkeeping obligations and the investigation process. It also explains the distinction between provincially and federally regulated workplaces, which can affect where an employee must file a complaint.
